Rap... at the 2001 Linguistic Institute

In the 1960's and 70's, rap sessions--times when people got together and discussed what was on their minds--were going on at college campuses all over the U.S.  Sponsored by the LSA Committee on Ethnic Diversity in Linguistics, Institute rap sessions will provide the opportunity for Institute participants interested in issues relating to ethnic minorities to hang out and rap.  Each session will have a moderator whose function will be to introduce the topic and keep the discussion going, but there will be no outside "experts" with the answers.  Participants will share their views and hear other perspectives.  After much give-and-take, they will possibly learn something that will help them or will make a contribution that is helpful to someone else.  The sessions are open to all Institute participants; no prior registration is needed.
